Quit smoking!
How to finally quit smoking
Is it finally time to quit smoking? How can we quit and live a healthier lifestyle? Here are some tips and tricks to help you through that transition.
We are all creatures of habits. All of us have our little morning rituals, such as drinking coffee, grabbing a shower, perhaps doing a workout, and for some of us – lighting a cigarette. This is a time only for ourselves, at least we would like it to be, and often, if our ritual is disrupted, we are grumpy, the day just feels worse.
We go to the pub, have a pint with our mates, and the craving starts. Let’s face it, we are from the UK, the weather is probably bad so going out to light a cigarette just feels like a hassle. But we do it anyway, because we like to have something in our hands, we enjoy the „me time“, and sometimes we just get bored.
As a long time smoker myself, it was difficult to let go of all these things. I would get hungry, and light up. I would be working at the computer and light one after the other – not because I wanted it, but because of the habit.
So how did I quit smoking?
Quitting smoking is hard, but we all know it’s better for our health.
Regular tobacco cigarette contains more than 7000 chemicals, many of which are poisonous. One cigarette raises your heart rate and adrenaline. The burning of all the chemicals creates so many toxins, this is something we could all do without.
There are little tips and tricks you can do to quit smoking and live a more healthy lifestyle:
Give yourself something to do
- If you feel like you’re smoking out of boredom, take a pen and paper and scribble something while talking on the phone, or while listening to a boring lesson. As stated before, we like to have something in our hands, so a cigarette seems like a good idea. You know it is not!
- Try chewing on something – a gum, or a carrot or celery. Try not to replace it with sweets, speaking from first hand experience – this leads nowhere pretty.
- You could replace it with a vape device. Vaping is 95% safer than smoking, and proven through countless experiences and trials to be one of the most effective ways to kick the stinkies.
Nicotine replacement therapy
- You can ask your doctor for nicotine patches, gums, inhalers or similar. These things will help you relieve intense cravings and give you a short term nicotine boost while going through withdrawal.
- You can try our juices without the nicotine shot, and enjoy the full flavour of Mums custard, Strawberries and Cream or Black Moriya. All of our shortfills are nicotine free, and can help in the transition while you battle that addiction.
Avoid triggers and get physical
- Try going a couple of days without coffee or alcohol if that is when the cravings are highest.
- Instead – do a morning workout, make yourself a nice fruit smoothie and go to a smoking free pub in the evening.
Remember how much better and healthier you will be!
- You will feel better. It’s a fact. Remember the random headaches you start getting? It’s quite likely they will reduce or be gone completely. Remember tight chest? Why would you want that? Your hair and clothes will stop smelling bad. Your nails won’t be yellow anymore. Your family and friends will not be exposed to the thousands of toxins. And, most importantly, you are going to enjoy a much better quality of life
- Vaping does none of these things!
- Vaping is safer, a lot safer
- You won’t smell
- Improved sense of smell & taste
- Exploring flavours is enjoyable
- Determine your own nicotine intake
